A regular meeting of the Board of Education of Magnolia School District Number 14 was held in the board room in the Administration
Building October 1, 2007. Board members present were Mr. Mike Waters, president: Dr. Mark Bryan, vice-president; Mr. William
Watson, secretary; Mr. Truman Young and Dr. Randy Hayes, newly elected board member. The following business was transacted:
Board Meeting Minutes
The Board approved the September 10, 2007, Regular Board Meeting Minutes and September 19, 2007, Special Board Meeting Minutes.
Election of 2007-2008 Board Officers
The Board elected officers for the 2007-2008 School Year.
President – Mike Waters
Vice-president – Mark Bryan
Secretary – William Watson
September 2007 Financial Report
The Board received the September 2007 Financial Report, which was reviewed by Peggy Comer, business manager.
Fence Installation Bids
The Board approved a Fencing Installation Bid in the amount of $12,408 from Ideal Construction Co. Inc. for Central
Elementary School and Magnolia Junior High School.
Social Studies and Arkansas History Textbook Adoption Committee
The Board approved the Social Studies and Arkansas History Textbook Adoption Committee
for 2007-2008, as presented by Kim Wyrick, curriculum coordinator.

Board Training Hours
The Board and Superintendent will attend the listed Arkansas School Boards Association
Board Training meetings to fulfill their required six hours of training. Nine hours
are required for all new board members

2007-2008 Board Goals for the Superintendent
The Board approved 2007-2008 Board Goals for the Superintendent
1. Increase public awareness of Magnolia Public Schools through increased emphasis on positive public relations
2. Emphasize student achievement in Mathematics, Reading, Writing, Language Arts and Science
3. Enhance the physical facilities of the Magnolia Public Schools
4. Study, evaluate and implement desired programs and instructional delivery systems of the Magnolia Public Schools
