Special School Board Minutes

March 14, 2007

A special meeting of the Board of Education of Magnolia School District Number 14 was held in the board room in the Superintendent's office March 14, 2007, at 5:15 p.m.  Board members present were Mr. Mike Waters, president; Dr. Mark Bryan, vice-president; Mr. William Watson, secretary; Mr. Greg Rich and Mr. Truman Young.  The following business was transacted:

Executive Session
The Board met in executive session to consider student discipline violation of Board Policy 4.21 Student Assault or Battery.

After returning to regular session, the Board voted to follow the recommendation of the Superintendent and Magnolia Junior High School Principal to expel the student from school for one calendar year.  The student will be eligible to return to school in January 2008.

 

March 21, 2007

Executive Session
A special meeting of the Board of Education of Magnolia School District Number 14 was held in the board room in the Superintendent's office March 21, 2007, at 5:15 p.m.  Board members present were Mr. Mike Waters, president; Dr. Mark Bryan, vice-president; Mr. William Watson, secretary; Mr. Greg Rich and Mr. Truman Young.  The following business was transacted:

The Board met in executive session to consider student discipline violation of Board Policy 4.21 Student Assault or Battery.

Property Purchase
The Board voted to submit a counter offer to the Greg Bennett Company on 29.53 acres of Bradley property located on East North Street.

 

September 19, 2007

A special meeting of the Board of Education of Magnolia School District Number 14 was held in the board room in the Superintendent's office September 19, 2007, at 5:15 p.m.  Board members present were Mr. Mike Waters, president; Mr. William Watson, secretary; Mr. Greg Rich and Mr. Truman Young.  Dr. Mark Bryan, vice-president was absent.  The following business was transacted:

Executive Session
The Board met in executive session to consider two separate student discipline issues.

After returning to regular session, the Board voted to follow the recommendation of the Superintendent and Magnolia High School Principal that both students be expelled from school for the remainder of the 2007-2008 school year.  The students will be eligible to return to school August 2008.

Presentation of Plague
Mike Waters presented to Greg Rich a Plague of appreciation for his service to the Magnolia Board of Education.  This was Mr. Rich's last board meeting, as he did not run for reelection in Zone 4.  He will be succeeded by Dr. Randy Hayes.


November 13, 2007

A special meeting of the Board of Education of Magnolia School District Number 14 was held November 13, 2007, at 5:00 p.m. in the board room of the Administration Building.  Present were board members Dr. Mark Bryan, vice-president; Mr. William Watson, secretary; Dr. Randy Hayes, Mr. Truman Young and Superintendent Dr. John H. Moore.  Mark Bryan presided in the absence of Mike Waters, president.  The following business was transacted:

 

December 18, 2007

A special meeting of the Board of Education of Magnolia School District Number 14 was held in the board room of the Administrative Building December 18, 2007, at 5:15 p.m. Board members present were Mr. Mike Waters, president; Dr. Mark Bryan, vice-president; Mr. William Watson, secretary; Mr. Truman Young and Dr. Randy Hayes. Dr. John H. Moore, superintendent, was present. The following business was transacted:

The Board met in executive session to consider student discipline violation of Board Policy 4.21 Student Assault or Battery.

The Board returned to open session following the closed hearing. The Board voted to follow the recommendation of the Superintendent and Magnolia Junior High School Principal to expel the student  from school for one calendar year. The student will receive credit for grades earned the fall semester of 2007 and will be eligible to return to school in January 2009.

 

January 30, 2008

A special meeting of the Board of Education of Magnolia School District Number 14 was held in the board room of the Administrative Building January 30, 2008, at 5:18 p.m. Board members present were Mr. Mike Waters, president; Dr. Mark Bryan, vice-president; Mr. William Watson, secretary; Mr. Truman Young and Dr. Randy Hayes. Dr. John H. Moore, superintendent, was present. The following business was transacted:

The Board voted to accept bids, as presented by Jerry Hollensworth, architect, for the Central HVAC and Electrical Upgrade. Ideal Construction received the bid as Construction Manager.  The total project cost is $1,030,079.38

The Board accepted a quote of six (6) percent from Mike Webb, president of Ideal Construction Company for Construction Manager for the new Magnolia High School Softball Facility.

Dr. Moore informed the Board that there was wind damage to a portion of the roof at West Side School. Bids are presently being taken to replace the roof, and insurance will cover part of that replacement.
