The Lemonade War Author to Visit East Side and Central Elementary Schools

Children’s author, Jacqueline Davies, will visit East Side and Central Elementary Schools May 1-3 to present programs to students.  Davies is the author of The Lemonade War, which is the book used in the One District, One Book financial literacy event in February. The Magnolia School District partnered with Economics Arkansas and business and community members to provide kindergarten through fifth grade students and parents a personal copy of The Lemonade War, the firstbook in The Lemonade War series.  Many individuals from the community participated in the event by sharing their career paths and reading a chapter of The Lemonade War to the students.

Ms. Davies, a resident of Needham, Massachusetts, has eleven published children’s books to her credit.  Ms. Davies’s books have won numerous awards, including the NSTA Outstanding Science Trade Book for Students K-12, the John Burroughs List of Nature Books for Young Readers, The Sigurd Olson Nature Writing Award, the New York Library’s Best Books List, the NCSS Notable Social Studies Trade Book for Young People, the IRA/CBC Children’s Award Notable Book for Fiction, the Bank Street College of Education’s Best Children’s Books, and the CCBC Choices Award.

Ms. Davies’s visit to the schools was made possible with the help of a grant from Albemarle Corporation.
