MELISSA ROWE CHOSEN MHS 2024 TEACHER OF THE YEAR

Melissa Chandler Rowe was recently chosen as the Magnolia High School 2024 Teacher of the Year.  Melissa is completing her seventh year of teaching and is the Accelerated Biology and AP Biology teacher at Magnolia High School. This year, she became a teacher mentor and completed the NIET Lead Teacher program to further her mentoring and coaching skills. Her continuous innovation, motivation, and passion push students to achieve higher on the ACT and the AP Biology exam.

Melissa graduated from Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia with a bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry: Pre-Health in 2017 and then proceeded to graduate with a master’s degree in teaching in 2018.

In June of 2020, Melissa married Jimmy Rowe and bought their first home! They have four rescued cats: Rowan, Kova, Baan, and Phantom. Mrs. Rowe enjoys reading, gaming, spending time with family, and camping. Her career as an educator focuses on encouraging students to reflect on their mindset, build their critical thinking skills, and instilling confidence in her students, and encouraging students to connect those skills to real world situations.
