Magnolia High School Inducts New Members into Mu Alpha Theta
Magnolia, Arkansas — Magnolia High School recently held its annual Mu Alpha Theta Induction Ceremony on Thursday, February 19, at the Magnolia Performing Arts Center. During the ceremony, new members were formally inducted into the prestigious national mathematics honor society and presented with official membership certificates. Senior members were also recognized and received honor cords to be worn at graduation.
Mu Alpha Theta is the National High School and Two-Year College Mathematics Honor Society. Founded in 1957, the organization promotes scholarship in mathematics, inspires a deeper interest in the subject, and encourages the enjoyment of mathematics among students. Magnolia High School’s chapter, established in 1960, continues its long-standing tradition of academic excellence.
Membership in Mu Alpha Theta reflects a high level of academic achievement and commitment to mathematics. To qualify, students must be juniors or seniors who have completed, with distinction, at least four semesters of college preparatory mathematics and be enrolled in their fifth or higher semester. Eligible students must maintain a minimum overall GPA of 3.0 and at least a 3.5 GPA in college preparatory mathematics courses.
