Michael Boyd Named Magnolia–Columbia County Chamber of Commerce Student of the Year
Magnolia, Arkansas — Magnolia High School senior Michael Boyd has been named the Magnolia–Columbia County Chamber of Commerce Student of the Year, an honor recognizing academic excellence, leadership, service, and commitment to career readiness.
Michael ranks in the top 5% of his graduating class, is an AP Scholar, will graduate with 24 hours of concurrent college credit, and is on track to earn the Diploma of Distinction. While his academic achievements are impressive, it is the way he has applied his education that truly sets him apart.
Through Magnolia High School’s Career and Technical Education (CTE) program, particularly the Agriculture Department and FFA, Michael completed the Animal Science pathway and has served the Magnolia FFA Chapter as President, Vice President, Sentinel, and committee leader. He has represented Magnolia at district and state competitions in the Poultry Evaluation Career Development Event, qualifying for state competition for four consecutive years. Last year, his team captured the District Championship, and Michael placed 2nd overall individually.
He currently serves as Chairman of the Parliamentary Procedure Team and competes in the Job Interview Leadership Development Event, where he will compete for a state title this April.
Beyond competition, Michael maintains an active Supervised Agricultural Experience in Poultry Production at GW Chick Farms. His proficiency in this area earned him a Gold Ranking at the national level, scoring 90% or higher among applicants across the country.
Michael plans to attend the University of Arkansas to pursue a degree in Poultry Science, where he has already been given the opportunity to judge poultry. He intends to continue his education in law school, specializing in agricultural law.
In addition to his agricultural accomplishments, Michael has served as baseball manager since his freshman year, is a member of the Sports Medicine team, and serves as golf manager. He volunteers with Mulerider Kids College, serves on the Columbia County Junior Fair Board, and is active in Calvary Baptist Youth Fellowship.
When presented with opportunities, Michael consistently steps forward with initiative and dedication. His leadership reflects not only achievement, but preparation and service to others.
Magnolia High School proudly congratulates Michael Boyd, a young leader who represents the very best of Magnolia and whose future is filled with promise.
